At Wednesday night’s Hatching event we heard from teams that want to help do a number of things; save moms money, improve reading retention, keep you healthy, keep your personal information safe and save you time when applying to jobs.
The 5 businesses that competed were:
Bookbrainer
HerBlends of Plenty
Mamas Mean Business
Custom Resume Software
BNJ Technology Group
Bookbrainer
The big winner of the evening, Jody Burgess wants to help us remember what we read. When reading for professional development, many people have problems remembering what they read. They waste time going back to look up information they already know but can’t remember.
Bookbrainer is software that helps you retain key points from professional development books by sending you quiz questions about what you just read. Jody Burgess presented the product and says they have the product built, have the website built, and might already have their first paying customer.
HerBlends of Plenty
HerBlends of Plenty wants to help people make healthy choices through herbal tea. One of the founders, Kirk Green, has completely eradicated his own allergies by treating himself with herbs rather than pharmaceutical drugs. Their goal is to work with local suppliers, growers, and businesses to get their product to health conscious individuals.
Mamas Mean Business
Today, women make 85% of the household purchases and many are interested in buying local but say saving money comes first. Mamas Mean Business wants to connect moms with local businesses who are willing to offer discounts to those who pay 20/yr for a membership to the site. Melissa Ryan and Lynn Ross, the creators, are already socializing with their target audience and have moms and businesses ready and waiting to start using the site.
Custom Resume Software
When applying to jobs, Wila Phiri knows the worst thing you can do is send the same resume to every potential employer. Custom Resume Software will allow you take a picture of the job you want to apply to and then the software will alter the text of the resume to fit the job description and offer multiple options. Custom Resume Software wants to target college grads and those that aren’t familiar with making a resume.
BNJ Technology Group
Joe Beeman wants to help eliminate passwords. His software will combine thumbprint security and facial recognition with geo-location services to help keep your phone, identity, and personal information safe. The new verification process will be more secure than a simple ID or will be able to verify who you are with certainty.
The big winner of the evening was Jody Burgess with Bookbrainer!
Congratulations to Jody and all the other competitors on a job well done!
