Lansing is a great place to start a business because there are 7 (yes, seven!) incubators to help launch your business, no matter the industry.
The Technology Innovation Center, also known as the TIC, is one of those incubators. A business accelerator with a technology focus, the TIC combines affordable space and important resources to further the startup community in Lansing. Located in the heart of downtown East Lansing, tenants of the TIC are at the heart of the community.
Founded:
Late 2008.
Things you should know:
The Technology Innovation Center’s (TIC) goal is to generate and advance the culture of entrepreneurship in the community and expand the technology-based economy in the market. We support the start-up community by providing affordable office space, services, training, funding sources, mentoring, and networking opportunities with professionals in the Greater Lansing Area.
Capacity:
We can support up to 18 companies, and offer a virtual program for entrepreneurs that want to take advantage of the services provided but are not yet ready for physical office space.
Current number:
We house 12 companies in our space and have 3 virtual companies.
Ideal tenant:
Although our tenants are all very different from one another, they are typically technology-based businesses within the first three years of starting their business.
Rates:
Offices range in price from $270 to $515, depending on square footage of the space.
What they get you:
Each office comes equipped with two desks and two offices chairs. Tenants have access to 2 conference rooms, parking, mailboxes, photo copying, printing, faxing, a break room/kitchenette, general reception area, and The 300 Room, a community event space.
What sets you apart?
The partnerships. We work closely with the MSU Foundation and MSU’s technology transfer and commercialization office, which is designed to identify technologies with the best commercial promise and move the innovation created, from the lab to the marketplace.
Exciting aspects:
The potential to continue to foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Lansing Region, one start-up at a time.
